Hi Patty and Welcome. Your best bet is to try to find something with the military or other hospital group that does not have to follow the Italian rules (I don't know what this would be though). The reason is that to work in Italy in the Italian system (even private) you will have to sit the boards in Italian as your American RN license is not valid by itself (you must be certified here). This also means you wiull need to be fluent in bnoth regular Italian and medical Italian. Do you have EU citizenship? If so this will be a huge help but still not perfect. Most jobs are also done by a special selection, and of course this means that qualified Italians are first in line, then if they cannot find any, qualified EU persons and then others. It really isn't as easy as it could be unfortunately. Also, last I heard there is not a shortage here for medical personnel. The UK on the other hand will pay for qualified nurses to come over as they are in dire need (I know Italians who have gone becaiuse the pay was so good). I don't waznt to be a downer but do want to give the real situation. Maybe if you gave us a bit more info about yourself (heck you are probably fluent and certified here already and I have just been telling you things you already know Smile)we could give more accurate info.

Have you checked out the job search engines at THIS THREAD
