Beccofino, which has been favorably reviewed here, is no longer in business. So we were informed in response to an email reservation request.

hoftraveler, the couple who owned Beccofino and two other restaurants in Florence also have a very special hotel and restaurant in Greve. This is the website Villa Bordoni I did not mention it when you were asking about restaurants as it is not convenient to get to and I do not know if they serve Sunday lunch. You might want to check. The location is absolutely lovely. Both the hotel and restaurant are upscale.

It is closed.

David sold it awhile ago, when he moved to Greve.. so the latest people were not his anyway.

It made its name when david owned it with a wine maker and they had a famous chef there too.
Then everything started changing.

so for now.. closed!

Does David still own/operate Baldovino?

When I ate at Baldovino back in 2005, it was exquisite. When I ate there a year ago, it was disappointingly mediocre. The two experiences were like night and day. So, that makes me wonder if perhaps the quality of Baldovino's food suffered with David's move to Greve?

I am not sure how involved he is in the Florence things anymore.

He also had Finestrae, in the piazza.

Lucky for us they closed it, then, because we were chasing the well-priced older vintages mentioned a while ago by Dean, and apparently would not have found them there.

Thanks to everyone on this board for all your help. We leave home for Firenze tonight, and will file full reports in June.
