As I was walking around the streets of Lecce on my recent trip, I heard someone ask the British couple (who were part of my group), walking just ahead of me if they were from the States. They said they were not but we were. She asked where we were from and we exchanged plesantries etc. As I was about to enter a shop, it suddenly dawned on me that she said she was from Hawaii. I knew that fellow ST Ann from Hawaii was going to be in Puglia in April because we had communicated about perhaps meeting but our dates didn't seem to mesh.
So I ran back out down the street to catch up with her to ask if she were indeed STer Ann from Hawaii. And yes she was. What are the chances that I would run into Ann on the streets of Lecce on her arrival day in Italy! We didn't have much time to chat as my group was about to depart and didn't think about taking a picture at the time. However I called her the next day to give her feedback from my host on the recommended restaurant list she had complied for her Puglia trip and had shared with me. We had a nice chat by phone anyway. Another small world ST story. Hope you're having a great time Ann!
Wow, Colleen, are you back already? That sure went fast! We're waiting for a full report; hope it was all wonderful. How cool that you were able to run into Ann!

Edited to add -- I hadn't yet read your "Puglia Rocks!" post below when I wrote this. But I still hope you will have time to do a full report!
Interesting! We met Ann and her husband for lunch in Bagno Vignoni one time. They are some of my favorite travelers---they plan and execute wonderful itineraries, often off-the-path.
