Hi. I'm traveling to the Lake Region with my dad and some ofther family members this June. We will be coming from the Cinque Terre area & will be traveling by car. Where is the best place for us to stay in the Lake Region? I'm trying to find a place that is easy to navigate by car, has parking on-site or close by & is centrally located to tour the lakes by boat. We only have 2 days & 1 night to spend her on our way home. THANKS so much for any suggestions on where to stay!

Assuming you are departing from MXP, I will suggest that your best option is not lake Como but is Stresa on lake Maggiore--only an hour from MXP and an easier drive from the CT. Look at www.stresa.net for lodging. However, I do find lake Orta to also be magical--look at www.orta.net
