We are leaving from miami friday afternoon march 17th and will arrive in venice sat just in time for lunch. We will be staying at the Al mori doriente hotel for 4 nights and then pick up the rental car. We, as in my wife, 15 year old daughter and her best friend also 15, two teenaged girls to watch after, sure i will get alot more gray hair. Next stop is lucca for 4 nights at the La Romea residenza after which we will drive to siena. We will be staying at the Palazzo Ravizza four nights and plan on drinking all of the wine in siena. Of course we will daytrip to florence and several other hill towns during our stay in tuscany. Next we will roadtrip down to the amafli coast, not sure where we are going to stay yet, we'll decide on the way. After doing absolutley nothing for 4 nights we head to rome and drop the car at the termi station. The wife is going to drive during this part of the trip, he he.Four nights at the Residenza Antica near the spanish steps and then the long flight home. Thanks to slowtravel, even though my trip is only semi-slow. This site has been fantastic! I have actually read EVERY post. The information from car drop off, driving the amafli to hotel info has been sooo helpful.

Thanks for the help

Ken

Are you taking the Delta flight from JFK to Venice? Let me know, because I'm leaving from JFK on the 17th and arriving in Venice the next morning (as you are). It would be great to meet for a pre-Venice drink!
Sharon

P.S. Have you look at the Venice GTG discussion?

I am also leaving friday with my husband to fly from Fort Myers to Rome (via Atlanta). We will be the 4 days, then taking the train down to Sorrento for 3 days, returning to Rome for 3 more days. We are taking a day to fly to Venice via RyanAir leaving early am and returning to Rome early evening. Should be a great time !!
I cant wait till Friday, but vacations always do go too fast.
Ciao

Sharon,

We will be taking the Iberia flight to venice with a stop in mardid, (flight 6122?), it may be a code share with delta. Leaves at 5:30 p.m. Would love to hook up and have a send off St. paddys day drink. We plan on getting to the airport really early, sure we will stand out because of the two girls travelling with us.

Bill,

We will be taking a water taxie from the airport to our hotel . It's my favorite way to arrive in venice, and I'm sure the girls will love it. The hotel seems to have great reviews on tripadvisor, what was your experience?

Ken,
Darn, we're not on the same flight. I'm on a Delta flight that leaves at 7:15 pm and flies direct to Venice. At 5:30, I'll probably be waiting to get through security... We'll probably run into you at the water taxi stand (it's also my favorite way to get to Venice).

Have a great flight! Maybe we'll see you in Venice.

Cathylk-
Did you decide on the day trip to venice? We were thinking of doing the same thing. I know it is a long train ride- but I just can't imagine being this close and not making the effort. Does melatonin work for train lag as well? Snail
