It's looking like we're going to be flying out of Pisa (to Barcelona) with Ryanair. The flight costs .74 euros - how crazy is that?! (well, with taxes, etc. it's 19 euros total - still, that's pretty good!)

Anyways, our flight leaves at 7am so we think it would be best to sleep in Pisa the night before.

I'm looking for a nice, but budget, hotel near the airport. Any suggestions?

Our hotel in Florence is only costing us 55 euros, so it would be great if we could pay the same for a place in Pisa. But it's gotta be clean and safe!

Any suggestions you have would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

Cheers,
Crissy

I think they'll have to give me a percentage in the end, but I always recommend Hotel Roseto or in general any other hotel in the area of teh station.

Have you looked at the hotel reviews for Pisa on the SlowTrav site? LInk HERE fwiw, the one review of Hotel Roseto on SlowTrav is not good...

Have you checked the Venere and Active hotel sites? Links are on the right of this page.

really?! Oh, let me check then! I have never slept there, but a Spanish friend of mine stayed there for a week and loved it!

What about Hotel Minerva?

Wow, really? Either it went down over the years or they had a very bad experiece. Ok, no more recommendations then!

When was the review published?
(PS: I never thought it would have charm, though)

Well, we've decided to give Hotel Moderno in Pisa a try (53 euros/night, with shared toilet & shower).

Hopefully it will be decent enough! Ah well, it's only for one night (so we can catch an early flight to Barcelona). Smile

I'm back from my trip and can tell you that the Hotel Moderno in Pisa was just fine!!

Excellent location - about a 3 minute walk from the train station, and within walking distance to the airport. Excellent location - it took us about 15 minutes to walk to the airport from there.

That said, I wasn't impressed with Pisa ... but the hotel was fine! Wink

Didn't you like the city? Or was it the area?

It was the city ... I really wish it was kept up better. It has the potential to be such a great place!!

The area around the tower was really nice and well kept though!

I know. It is really run down in some places. The administration insists on promoting only the tower area with the result that most areas of interest are invisible or you have a hardtime keeping your eyes up when you walk...

I hope that some day they will realise what a treasure they have in their hands.
