After cruising this board for some weeks, I have a plan.My husband,Al,and I are going Italy in April. We plan two weeks in Florence, 3-4 days in Rome and the rest ?(3 weeks in all).On an earlier trip,we spent time in Rome, Capranica, Venice and Cinque Terra. Our interests include:history, geography, people, art, gardens, tapestry weaving. We aren't shoppers, aren't driving and travel economically as possible. My questions are: 1. can anyone suggest an alternative to Cinque Terra as a refuge from the cities? (We loved C.T. but expect it has become very busy. 2. are there any tapestry weavers/studios in Florence? Thanks in advance, MayK

I love the countryside around Orvieto, but then most of the folks on the board know this about me. I feel like I'm becoming a preacher at this point! Anyway, I find that this area, where 3 regions meet (Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria) provides many diverse, interesting experiences because it has such a rich background/history.
Check out some of the threads on this board about the area and you'll see what I mean. And have a great time, whatever you decide....ciao Cheryl
