Do you know if they are showing the 2 hr. edited version or the extended version?

I hate the "extended version"/"Director's cut". So full of melodromatic cr@p and completely ruins the effect imho. I've kept my old crumbling VHS recording of the edited version that won the Oscar. If anyone knows where I can get a DVD of the edited version, let me know!

Thanks for the heads up. All I have to do is see the opening shot and hear the music and I start blubbering. My husband and I did a slide show of us when we were kids and our families/friends etc at our wedding three years ago and we used the music from Cinema Paradiso. The last slide was the duomo in Florence! Thanks!

Persia, yes, I'm Valda's daughter. Unfortunately, the DVD version for sale is the Director's Cut with 45 minutes of added garbage.

If you come to Sicily make sure you pay a visit to Palazzo Adriano, a village not far from Corleone where the movie was shot. See the piazza of Cinema Paradiso and the Museum with pictures taken at the time of the actual filming. Michele Gallo http://www.sicilytravel.net/mgallo@sicilytravel.net
