I worry about my cats' safety as USAirways requires that they fly in Cargo Philadelphia - Rome. (We'll be there 4 months or I'd leave them at home.) They have flown in cabin many times, and we'll carry them in cabin Pittsburgh to Philadelphia. Any advice or experience to share? Trip 31 August to 31 December. Thanks!

Hi Holly - Welcome.

We actually have an FAQ with many comments about traveling with pets. Have a look.

Thanks, Colleen, but I after reading all the "Travels with Cats" messages I still don't have any traveler's updated experiences with CARGO instead of cabin. (USAirways won't let us bring cats onboard.) So I'll hope somebody out there can advise more.

Holly-

You might find more updated experiences with cargo on Cristina's Expats in Italy site.

Hi holly,

I suggest that you check with your Vet.

The cargo holds are pressurized and heated. Your cats won't freeze or explode.
