28 taxi drivers have denounced for a large scam against foreign tourists lading at Fiumicino, in particular from Japan and the USA. These drivers used to ask up tp 200 euro for the drive to the center of Rome to tourists (instead of the usual 35-40 euro). They applied the top tariff instead of the reduced tariff that should in the city and also gave reduced change to foreigners not used to the euro bills. The 28 will undergo trail and risk a small period of jail, having the licence retired and 15 of them also risk to have the driving licence retired. Here the full story in Italian.

Is this a vendetta against the Japanese taxi drivers? After all, the NORMAL taxi fare from Narita ariport to Tokyo is about US$200.
