According to IMDb, it was filmed mostly in studios in England, at Cinecitta and in (near?) Siena.

Yes, Cinecitta Studios Rome, Shepperton Studios England and Siena. It certainly wasn't Umbria and those of us who know Umbria could tell! I really couldn't understand why you would film a movie entitled "My House in Umbria" anywhere else. Spoiled it for me, anyway.

I felt this way as well. I guess that is why I was so curious. Thanks everyone. Sharon J

My understanding is that the intened location or the actual location was outside Corsciano. If you peel off the Perugia-Siena highway (the A1 connector) at the Corsciano exit, you'll come to a roundabout on the South side. Take the the last exit off this roundabout towards Corsciano. Follow the road until you come to a junction. Take the right hand turn and followed by another right at a tight bridge, this will bring you way up in the hills. These instructions are from memory, so they might be out by a turn. But if you make it up to the village, there are some striking parallels between the scenery in the area and some in the movie.

Any idea why the movie was not actually filmed there? Do you mean "Corciano" or is this another town? The countryside and villages around Corciano are gorgeous and would have actually been authentic for a film entitles "My House in Umbria"!!!

Yes, a mispelling. Corciano. I would be surprised if several scenes were not shot there but wikipedia claims "Much of the film was made on location in Italy, including Cinecittà, Rome, Lazio, Siena, and Tuscany." So my hunch seems out...

The reason that the movie was titled "My House in Umbria" is because it is based on a novel of the same title written by William Trevor.....
