Has anyone used either Meridiana Airline from NY to Rome or Vayama booking agent? I am thinking of going next week and found great airfares at both places.

Apparently Meridiana and Eurofly have entered into a partnership (code-share perhaps?) for the trans-Atlantic service. I found an article from 2006 which reported that Meridiana (owned by the Aga Khan) had purchased a 29.9% stake in Eurofly.

You can search the forums for previous experiences with Eurofly...mostly okay, but with some problems--especially with customer service.

I had not seen any publicity on the joint operations before today....

Vayama is a relative newcomer to the travel website world and I have no experience with it--but it appears to reputable.

Meridiana has been around quite a while....I believe I flew them from Rome to Sicily years ago.

Here is a link to a history of the airline from their web page.

The red square is your post editing box. You can edit only your own posts, that's why you only see it on your posts and no one else's.

(fwiw, there's a "How do I ...?" forum in the Miscellaneous section of SlowTravel Talk.)

Thanks to everyone for the input. I think we'll pass on Meridiana since it leaves from JFK and that is not convenient for us. However they have fares from there to Rome, Naples, Bologna or Palermo on selected dates in Sep and Oct for $474 r/t. You can access it through Hotwire. Vayama has a few flights from Charlotte to Rome on Delta for $637 r/t.
Thanks again

I have used Vayama. They have been ok so far. However be aware that they do make flight changes (with notifications- they have been very good about that) and sometimes in the end you have pretty tight connections. Also be sure if you book with them you get the airlines booking number as well as it is different from Vayama's number so you can check on your flight and get your boarding pass on line.
