Today is the 25th of April, it's Italian Bank Holiday and it's also Saint Mark holiday in Venice.
Today all Venetian man gives a red rose blossom to his love.
That's one of the traditions I like more :-).

Did my ritual checking of the St Mark's webcam this morning and the centre of the Piazza looked empty with people lined up across the bottom of the picture and a bit along the side.

Is there a ceremony that goes on there on this day or was it just one of those chance images? (or perhaps filming or something....would love to know).

Hoping everyone lucky enough to be there today gets an extra special rose !

Usually there is a procession with the most important religious and civic authorities of Venice that starts from the Piazza San Marco.
