quote: 10. For the past two summers, Medmar Lines has operated a competing overnight car ferry crossing between Naples and the Aeolian Islands once per week from late June through mid-September. This ferry has only seats and no cabins. The website for Medmar Lines has not yet been updated to reflect crossings for summer 2008, and at this point it is not certain that the service will even continue this year.
UPDATE: I just received an e-mail from Medmar Lines. They advise that the once-weekly overnight car ferry service between Naples and the Aeolian Islands (in competition with Siremar Lines) will NOT NOT be restored this June, as during the previous two summers. Consequently, the twice weekly Siremar Lines ferry will be the ONLY overnight maritime service to the Islands from Naples.

We just purchased tickets for the overnight Siremar ferry from Naples to Stromboli, thanks in no small part to all the information posted by GAC on this site. Thank You! We were booked on the Gianni Morace in mid June. After many e-mails in Italian to the Siremar address Ontano Tours finally answered. After sending a fax with credit card number and copy of an ID (!) they sent back a copy of the ticket, to be retrieved in Naples (Piazza Municipo) prior to departure.
