I will be in Florence for both the April 25th and May 1st Holidays. Is everything shut down on those days-or can I find enough open to keep me occupied?

Most museums have a holiday schedule, and Florence is such a fabulous walking town!
If anything, May 1st which is workers day.. is always a good day for a strike.
Someone also pointed out to me that this year all teh big holidays are on weekends, so the Italians are losing out on extra days off!
It's leap year!
