We checked out McArthurGlen's newest outlet yesterday near Rome.

You just have to love their description of this center - "Inspired by the Augustine period, it looks as if it has risen straight for the roots of the Roman Empire - a real sense of stopping back in time." Our view of the design - "an English company's idea of a Disneyland knock-off."

About 90 stores open now, more to be added later. Big names are Dolce & Gabbana, Frette, Versace, Loro Piana, Etro + lots of lesser names. Prices averaged about 40% off retail.

Our overall opinion was "nice, but not spectacular", so why did we have all those sacks full of things when we returned to our car?

Exit 26 off the SW section of the Raccordo, close to FCO. Just guessing, but proably about a 40 euro taxi from downtown.
