Has anyone done a car rental pickup/dropoff from the airport in Brindisi (Papola)? Is it a difficult place to get out of and/or into?

Piece of cake...the airport is tiny, and--unless it changed in the last two years, the car rental area is just across from the terminal.



If I am not mistaken, the cars in this picture are in the car rental lot across from the airport entrance. The access road connects with all the main roads to all destinations in Puglia.

Excellent! Thank you Jim. My spouse is definitely NOT enthused about driving in Southern Italy so I was hoping to get a fairly painless start. This sounds good.

Where are you heading to from Brindisi?

Alecto, we returned a car there just 3 weeks ago: it's just as easy as Jim says. Actually the rental lot is about 100 yards to the right of Jim's photo, but the counters are just there in the arrivals hall.

We didn't find driving in S Italy any more scary than in central Italy. Naples is (as ever) an exception, but Puglia is perfectly civilized!

Thanks for the responses, the airport location sounds just right.

Jim, we're heading down the coast via Otranto, down around Capo Sta Maria di Leuca, and then just continuing along the coast of Calabria, then south of Salerno cutting back across via Potenza, Matera, eventually ending back in Brindisi. This isn't till December/January & is still very much in the planning stage - so many things to see!
