I've been reading that renting a boat is a good way to tour the Almalfi Coast, or at least the Positano coastline. Specifically, gozzos were mentioned. I'm not sure exactly what a gozzo is, but would like to be enlightened. I suspect that it's a small boat, hopefully with a motor.

I'm wondering about sailboats, too. Has anyone had any experience with either? If so, please provide specifics including approximate cost, etc. Molte Grazie.

You can rent a boat with a driver or a small boat to operate yourself.

My wife and I twice have rented from Lucibello based right on the beach in Positano. They rent small boats with outboard motors and sunshades. As you can see from the web site they have a variety of boats for rent. We puttered all the way from Positano to Amalfi once, staying just a few hundred meters off-shore. A great way to see the coast, catch some sun, and far niente for awhile!

My cousin and I also want to sail along the coast. We haven't done it yet, but here is a link to a thread from last fall when I asked a similar question. Boat Rentals in Italy

Ellens - Your link take me back to this thread. Not sure that was your intent, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Smile

BTW, thanks to everyone for their suggestions to date.

Sorry about that, I'm not sure how I managed to screw it up. Anyway, I've edited it so the link is now correct.
