Who has spent Easter in Italy? And where did you spend it? I hear that i should make sure to spend the Easter period somewhere special, just not sure what my options are. I will be in the very South for a month then hopefully head somewhere exciting for Easter.I am happy to travel North for a special experience. Thank you in advance. Fee

Probably the best place to spend Easter is the southern Italy itself. In first place, EAster is traditionally a period of time when people go on short holidays, there is a saying "Natale con i tuoi, Pasqua con chi vuoi" which mens "Spend Christmas with your family and Easter with who you want". The Monday after Easter is also traditionally a day devoted to picnicking in the open: crowds of people leave home and head to the nicest locations: in southern Italy often enough this means the beach ^_^. In southern Italy you should find better weather for the outdoor activities (eating your fullest). Also the Puglia area is probably the area of Italy whre Easter is mostly felt, due to the influence of Greece (and in Greece Easter is the biggest religious holiday, bigger than Christmas, which in Wester Europe is more important than Easter). So I would stay south, especially if you are able to make a connection with some local family and have them invite you for the picnic on the beach ^___^
I was able to spend Easter Day in Rome 2002. It was lovely. There were more things open than we expected. And it wasn't nearly as crowded as I was told it would be. We spent the day enjoying outdoor sights like fountains since it was my first trip and went to the Galleria Borghese. I don't know, however; if Rome would really be any more special than where you will already be since I'm not sure what it is you are looking for. It was special to me. Sherri.

In venice during the Easter holidays there is more more more people.................... For me it's not good to visit venice during this time, usually at my friends I suggest only a weekly day, not more turists from Italy (because the other turists arrive all the days) and not more turists to eat a sandwich all the place. Sorry for my few English. Kiss from a venetian girl that eat and live only with a turists money))) Sincerely many many thanks Cristiana
