My wife and our 2 year old daughter will be in Italy for 17 days in July and we're looking for some help. In the past, we have stayed in Venice -- days on the beach at the Lido and dinners either on the Lido or back in town. In addition to going back to the Lido, we are thinking that we might spend a week in Punta Ala. We're looking for a nice beach and good food -- and, yes, I realize that describes a million places in Italy.

Can anyone recommend any places to eat in Punta Ala? Or, please tell me if you've gone and I'm making a mistake.

I know nothing about Punta Ala (never even heard of it!) but a search of the forum brought up some older threads that mention it. Linked below are two forum discussions with comments about staying there. Perhaps this will inspire others to chime in. Smile

Just had a thought - if you like the Veneto/Friuli area, you might consider Grado for your beach vacation. I've only been there once (in winter), but it seems very popular in summertime.

hello coco88,
i love punta ala, especially the marina. we eat at a wonderful restaurant located right across from the marina - situated about in the middle... and i can't for the life of me remember the name! i will email friends and ask and get back to you.

Punta Ala is rarely mentioned outside the circles of Romans and Florentines who regularly spend several months each summer at their seaside villas. Good choice.

me and my addled brain... the wonderful restaurant, "da paolino", is in follonica (another beach town), which isn't far from punta ala. it is located at piazza XXV aprile, 33, and it sits right across from the water - the view is gorgeous.

the owner, leonardo, is a friendly, fun person and the food is out-of-this-world-good, especially the fish.
