I'm a newbie here and taking my first trip to Italy (Rome and Florence, first week in April), so hope Im posting this right. My wife and I enjoy attending evening vespers or any Mass for that matter with plenty of liturgical choral singing. We'd prefer something small and intimate, but welcome any recommendations. Anyone got any?

One of my fondest memories of Rome is going to the church of Santi Quattro Coronati on the Celian Hill and finding the cloistered nuns there singing vespers one evening. Be sure to see the fresco cycle in the chapel of San Sebastian and the beautiful cloister.

I second San Miniato, one of my favorite churches in Florence. Beautiful church, stunning views and chanting that gave me goosebumps!

I'm not sure on the schedule when winter and summer divide Late September could be either.
In most cases I would just arrive at the winter time which is usually an hour earlier.San Miniato is nice,if you are in decent shape the walk up the hill is great! The service is in a small chapel located at the bottom of the stairs under the altar.If you arrive early Piazza Michalangelo is just below with a great view over Florence.RR
