I am looking at an apartment through sleepinginflorence.com and would love some advice. The apartment is part of the San Lorenzo group, and specifically the Galeota apartment. It is a very large space at 240 sq. meters, and the price of $240 euros/night sounds too good to be true. My husband and I will be there with three teenagers, and may be entertaining a couple of others, so the space
would be great for us. I have seen one review here of a different apartment that is part of this group, but none specifically on the Galeota. Any advice on this rental, and the area it is in would be much appreciated! I want to make the right choice!

It looks like that apartment has a review listed in the pending vacation review section.

Hopefully it will be posted soon. I am waiting on a review also.

the sleepinginflorence.com site came to me thru friends i'd lived in florence with. they've stayed in a number of Gianna's apartments on their return trips and highly recommend them.
my husband and i have booked two apartments with her for our upcoming trip (two because we'll be joined by a party of three more after the first week of our trip and will need a bigger place) - Lepri and Guelfa. she's been very professional and accomodating in her services thus far.

the area of san lorenzo is quite busy and exciting. if you're looking for a quiet trip, you may want to pick another of her apartments. but if you're excited to be right in the middle of the city this is perfect! lots of shopping, eating and all the big museums within easy walking distance.

Lately it occurs to me
what a long, strange trip its been

I've rented from the San Lorenzo apartments, although not this apartment. I am looking into it for the fall of 2006 when eight of us will be travelling together..

The owner Gianna Galeota is very good about responding to questions quickly and openly. Email her directly at:

Pending reviews of all types and pending travel notes are always listed on our What's New page:
http://www.slowtrav.com/whats_new.htm

This is linked to on the home page, and all country home pages, where the new items are listed there.

I looked up that review and the reviewer gave no website or contact information, so I emailed her. Do any of you have a website for this place? I cannot publish reviews with no contact information.

Yes, Krix is right about the web site. From there, you can click on the San Lorenzo apartments, and there you will find the Galeota. Now I am really looking forward to that review!

One thing that I don't like about that site - there is no information about the owner of the business. I went to netsol.com and looked it up on whois and it is listed as Gianna Galeota - but there is not contact info or anything on the site.

It also looks sort of familiar to me - does anyone else remember it under another name?

The Galeota does not have a loft bedroom. The Galeota can sleep 6-8, not only the 2 stated in the review. It may have been the Lepri or Falleri, both of which have lofts. The confusion may be that the owner's last name is Galeota as well. She said that she does ask her clients not to smoke in her properties, so I was a bit concerned about the reveiwer mentioning being a heavy smoker. If the reviewer is reading this, was there a no-smoking policy in the apartment? PS--Pauline, thank you for being so responsive in posting this review!

The Falleri and the Lepri apartments are lofts, but not the Galeota. Perhaps the writer mistook the name because they are all owned by Gianna Galeota.

I will take off the apartment name for now. I have an email out to the reviewer - have not heard back yet.

We have rented the Casini apartment for four days in May. I feel sure I had a dialogue on the message board about the site (I remember someone telling me the owner had a young daughter), but can't seem to find the thread.

Like others, I have found Gianna to be very prompt and helpful in her follow-up.

Pauline, these apartments are listed on a couple of other websites in addition to the primary website identified here. For example, here's one and I found some others. Maybe that's why the apartments look familiar to you.

I'll of course write a review after our stay...
