Is anyone familiar with the suburb of Turino called Lombardore?

I'm looking for suggestions on getting to Lombardore from Milan. I'm considering taking a train to Turin and then a taxi or bus up to Lombardore. Ideas? I'm looking for specifics, like bus routes/numbers in Turin.

Thank you!

http://www.regione.piemonte.it/ptplweb/percorsiextraurbani.do

This utility allows you to search places and locations within the Regione Piemonte;

That is Torino is a valid starting point while Milano wouldn't (Regione Lombardia)

(It doesn't accept Turin for Torino , use the Italian name)

Lombardore is northeast of Turin, directly north of Settimo Torinese, and northwest of Chivasso. if you opt for the taxi, I suggest you don't go all the way to Turin itself. Better to get off the train in Chivasso or Settimo and take a taxi from there.

thanks everybody. that linked worked great. Surprisingly, it did let me enter Milano for my departure. It actually listed several possible routes. Some include trains, buses, and walking, and others include just buses.

by the way, it didn't let me enter Torino or Turin. oddly enough, the routes from Milan to Lombardore takes me through Torino.

Hi Jason and Melissa,

I am interested in your plans while in Lombardore. It is just 16km from the small town of Aglie where we plan to return someday. I was wondering where you are staying while in Lombardore? Aglie only has one small albergo and it isn't open when we like to travel, Fall months. I am always hopeful someone else will travel to this area and have some suggestions for hotels besides Torino and closer to Aglie.

Hope you have a great time on your trip.

hey Denise,
I'm not staying in Lombardore. We're doing a day trip from Milano. From what I researched so far, there is like one small hotel but it's not directly in town.

tell me about Aglie! I'm always interested in learning about small towns.

Hi J and M,

Aglie is a small village north of Torino. It has a few restaurants and bakeries, a Castello once belonging to the House of Savoy, some lovely churches, and a wonderful cemetery. There are also some wineries located outside the village. One is even owned by a family with the same last name as my husband's ancestors.

My husband's great-grandfather came from Aglie, as well as his great-grandmother's parents (she was born in Pennsylvania). We found many family crypts at the cemetery!

The town sits in a lovely area, farming, hills, lots of other small towns, etc. We can't wait to return and explore the village and surrounding area more.

What takes you to Lombardore?

Denise

Thanks Denise.

What is your husband's family's name? My grandfather's family immigrated to the States from Lombardore. Our families are the Bogni's and Camerlo's.

So did you rent a car and drive to Aglie or did you just utilize the buses? We've decided it would be more fun to take trains and buses.

My husband's family names from Aglie are Silva, Scavarda and Gedda. My mother-in-law's maiden name was Silva. We found family crypts for all of these names in the cemetery. It was very exciting and emotional for my husband. Many of the Silva headstones included a picture of the deceased and many of them looked a lot like my husband's grandfather. It was his father who came from Aglie.

We had leased a car from IdeaMerge. We were in Italy for three weeks, flying in and out of Nice, France.

That is wonderful. I'm taking my 79yr old grandfather to Italy for his first time, as well as his younger sister who's been once before. Since I've been multiple times, they have asked that I arrange it (that is "escort" them) so they can visit the towns their parents families are from.

I just found a very distant cousin who lives in Lombardore. He's being very helpful and talking to the "elders" in town. We will hopefully be able to meet them.

Cmq per raggiungerlo da Torino basta utilizzare i bus della ditta Satti idem per altri paesi qua nei dintorni
curiosità perchè Lombardore come luogo da visitare?
buona vacanza Barbara
p.s.
oggi qua c'è la festa patronale S. Agapito

Ciao,
ciao
