I just saw this in a posting on Trip Advisor. I thought it might be of interest to those traveling this summer, if it is accurate.

Attention all tourists travelling during July and August and want to see the Accademia -
The Accademia will be open on Tuesday nights from 7pm-10pm and offer free admission.

I am not sure that I have done this correctly, but I hope I have pasted the site where I saw the posting on Trip Advisor. It was just a comment made by a poster to that site - nothing official.
