We just happen to be in Florence Easter weekend.
What should we expect that weekend? Anything we should especially look for?

I was there two years ago during Easter and it was great. A little crowded - but not overly so.

Go to the Duomo for the explosion of the cart. It's great. I can't remember what time it takes place but I'm sure one of the local folks will chime in soon.

The Monday after Easter a lot of shops are closed but there were still plenty of open ones to browse around. I got one of my favorite purchases that day.

Gloria described the cart explosion for me several weeks ago. Sounds interesting.

I'll welcome any other tips for experiencing a special festival in Florence.

Afraid not. I had dinner with friends - so nothing unduly exciting.
You can see this site to check on what's going on in and around town. It lists the cinema, theatre, spports, special events, festivals, etc...

Must be someone else out there who can make specific recommendations regarding where to go and what to do on Easter weekend in Florence ? This will be our only chance, and I'd like to make the most of it.
