Place: Campo San Polo

Here is the Calendar of Events. Note Joanna's Dancing Man Vegetarians!! Gelato

What's it like to be in Venice during Carnival? I'm thinking about going because it sounds like it would be lots of fun, but Mardi Gras in New Orleans sounded fun too and I nearly got killed. So. Have you been before, Westsider?

Great! At least for me Wink Very crowded but, where in the world is not during Carnival?

Were you assaulted? Or almost ran by a car or motocycle or a bycicle? You won't have that kind of experience in Venice. I've never felt unsafe there during Carnival or anytime of the year. There are always policemen all over the city and now more than ever.

Yes, this is going to be my third (or fourth?)time. If you decide to go to Venice, which I hope, it will be wise to reserve a hotel room ASAP because the problem is that on weekends they are usually booked. On weekends you can see the city invaded by entire Italian families, and young Europeans.

Carnivale didnt seem like much of a party to me when I was in Venice. Nothing like Mardi Gras. I found it fun but not terribly exciting.

You are right, because there are not drunk people dancing on the streets, like Mardi Gras or Carnival in Rio Big Grin The Carnival in Venice, exciting or not, is unique and there is no doubt about it. Note Joanna's Dancing Man Gelato

Well, to be fair, there are neat things about it. Seeing costumes in Saint Marks, and some of the street performers, is cool. But really seemed like there were just thousands of people just standing around in various campos and doing nothing.

Next time I want to go to Viareggio or Oristano.

Next time you are going to come with me and my friends to one of the masquerade ballos in a gorgeous palazzo. How's that? Then, you will want to come back every year, to play Casanova over and over again or just walk around in your impressive costume Wink It's just so cool! Cool
