I am planning a trip in May and have just found this sight-- it's wonderful! Thanks to all of you for making it so.
The trip plan is pretty solid right now, although I have a day/night in Bologna and don't yet have restaurant(s) lined up. Any suggestions for good local fare?
Also, we'll be driving between Bologna and Venice-- if there are any "must do" stops along the way, please let me know.
Try Ristorante Diana, had a two wonderful meals there. My Blue Guide says it is at 24 V. Independanza. Excellent tortellini and Vitello Tonnato; send me a doggie bag....

Tamborini(sp.)is a deli/restaurant that has been open for many years.Apparently the family has been in the food business for 1000 years. It is quite near the Center Piazza. There are a few tables in the back,a good place to stop for a quick lunch.I may have the spelling wrong can't find it in a search,it is listed in my Cucina Italiana cookbook(more like encyclopedia) RR
da silvio.......can't remember the address. My absolute favorite in the city. Perhaps Rar, who used to live there, knows? If I can dig out the card from there, I'll post again.
Never been to da Silvio. Da Gianni and Cesarina are good choices. Another good upscale spot is Biaggi, they specialize in typical E-R cuisine. Heard bad things about Dianna.
My personal fav was Osteria il 15, to which you can find info on Alice's link. It isn't as upscale, feels more hole-in-the-wall, but all it's food is Bolognese and of course excellent. I love how you have to ring the doorbell to be let in.

We were in Bologna for 4 nights last October and Suzie and Rar kindly provided a lot of recommendations. I think for one night Da Gianni would be my choice.
