Has anyone stayed at Relais Villa Baldelli in Cortona? I wasn't able to find a Slow Travel review.

I did check Trip Advisor and booked because of their reviews but was curious to hear some Slow Travel Reviews.

I wasn't there personally but my friend looked into Villa Baldelli for my upcoming wedding and she thought it was lovely. We had booked it for a couple of weeks until we found an even better place outside of Cortona.

If you do a search you can see some of the things I wrote but overall, she said it's a really beautiful place and they are very friendly there.

Hello LoveItaly! I am getting married at Relais Alla Corte Del Sole - it's about 15-20 minutes outside of Cortona and it is truly lovely. My friend booked it for us before we even got to see it in person because she raved about it so much. The owners are very famous caterers, have a restaurant in Cortona and also own this relais - which also has a restaurant on premise. We finally got to visit after Christmas and we were thrilled. They brought in the chef to give us a tasting menu/dinner and everything was so delicious that I wished I had another stomach to eat all of the wonderful foods. The staff is so helpful and friendly - they are bending over backwards to help us with all of the arrangements and the place itself is wonderful. It's secluded yet accessible, the rooms all have character, there are public places where everyone can meet and hang out together, the view and the grounds are beautiful...I can go on and on. The photos on their website really don't do them justice.

One funny thing - George Clooney stayed there once and the photo of him and the owner's daughter Ilaria are all over the place! And the grand suite is called the "George Clooney Room".

Julie, what a lovely place to have your wedding. I checked some sites for the hotel and it looks beautiful. I e-mailed to see if they have availability and will then decide on there or Relais Baldelli. My only concern would be that it is further from Cortona and would require more driving if we want to spend some evenings in Cortona.

It is true that it's further away from Cortona than Villa Baldelli but it's just so beautiful there. And the drive to Cortona was deceiving because it looks so close but Cortona is really high up on a hill so it take a little while to get up there. So I don't know what to say but I'm sure either choice will be great. We (wedding party and guests) will all be eating in Cortona the night before the wedding at a restaurant there (don't know which one yet)- and I'm guessing it's going to be a late night. The taxi quotes were 15-20 euros per car so if that helps...

Julie, when you mention the drive is deceiving did you mean from Relais Baldelli or from Corte del Sole? By the way, when is your wedding? We'll be in Cortona May 24-29.

Oh I meant from Corte del Sole - I don't know where Baldelli is exactly. Our wedding is from May 10-14, while the ceremony will be held on the 13th. We go onto Florence for a couple of days with my extended family and then leave on the 17th.
