I'm very excited to announce that Diana will be submitting articles highlighting fabulous places to eat in Piedmont's wine region for under €40 per person (in addition to a second column on her life in Piemonte - starting shortly).
Nice idea for spotlighting the great food and wine of our beautiful Piemonte. I only wish the price point were a bit more down to earth, especially during these tough economic times. I dare say many Piemontese, at least those from our parts, would squawk at such a high price for a meal. We have more than a dozen nearby trattorie and osterie where you can enjoy 10-12 courses of traditional Piemontese cuisine with local wine for 25 Euros or less. It will be interesting to compare.
It is not my intention to put a bottom limit on what a person could pay here, but rather an upper limit. Having said that, it's not really only about the total amount, but about the quality/price relationship. Quantity of courses is one perspective; creative takes on traditional Piemonte cuisine at a reasonable price is yet another.
Some places do a stellar job at 35 euro, and some places do a mediocre job at 25 euro, and visa versa. The purpose of this series is to provide information for our area on the restaurants providing EXCEPTIONAL value, whether the price point be 15 or 25 or 40 euro.
This series is intended to be informational for Slow Travelers, and to give a breath of choice that might interest them.
I personally think 40 euro might be high for some and moderate for others.
Please, no need to defend your point of view. I just believe that 40 Euro (50 USD) per person is a lot to pay for a meal when you can find EXCEPTIONAL value, EXCEPTIONAL quality, EXCEPTIONAL creativity and EXCEPTIONAL quantity of food for 25 Euro and under in many Piemontese eateries around here. Just another opinion. I am looking forward to the articles

I think this is a well positioned point of view, and consistent with my own experience.
