Are fashionable leather jackets acceptable wear in Italy? I would assume so as Italy is the place for leather goods. I'm trying to decide what 'dressy' coat/jacket to take. ...7 more sleeps

your assumption is correct. however, they wear really nice leather, i.e., expensive. you could always wait until you arrive and buy something dressy, nice, and pure italian....

I would not bring a leather jacket to Florence, I would buy one there. I bought one last year and I was happy with the quality and price. The outdoor market has many leather booths with a bigger store in back of the booth. I would shop all the booths/stores to find the best value and style.........have a great trip........Bill

My husband found a lovely leather jacket in a small shop in Ravenna last year. Yummy, high quality leather at a decent price even with the Euro being so high. Nothing is as inexpensive as it was a few years ago but I'd rather spend a bit more in Italy for quality and style than less here in the States for something mediocre. You'll have it for years to come and think of your experience buying it every time you wear it!

hello campy - there's always "deals".... you're in italy!
the san lorenzo market is a great place to find a deal on a leather jacket. you can expect to pay anywhere from a couple hundred euro to thousands.
if you're in the market for a leather jacket that will last your lifetime, visit "NOI", via delle terme, 8, which is just a couple blocks off the ponte vecchio when walking toward the ancient center. ask for romano salimbeni. in my opinion, he offers the best leather products in florence.

I have one of those authentic air force bomber jackets which I have had for 20 years. It was $300 plus back then.I bet the Italians would be jealous of it! RR
