FYI:I found out straight from the source that The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore) will be CLOSED to mount a new exhibit from May 29 through June 15th. Don't plan to go see the Gates of Paradise (originals), various Donatello sculptures etc. on your trip if it falls then.

This is on occasion of the closure of the Arnolfo exhibit which finishes May 21st (extended from April 21). No amount of begging to the administration will get me (or I assume anyone else) in as it will be a construction site in there.

I can certainly relate. We missed seeing this museum in December...because they were setting up the Arnolfo exhibit!

Any word on what the new exhibition will be?

No word on a new exhibit - I think they're just putting up the permanent exhibit again. I hope that they display it as nicely as the Arnolfo exhibit.

CShock, are you serious? you really were dying to go to that museum? I'm so sorry to hear that! When are you going to be in town?

For me it's not that dire - i have been a million times, just that i had planned a lesson in there for 20 students in the first week of June. The Bargello makes an OK substitute for me though.
