How's the coverage? What happens when you connect to the network, does it bring up one of those screens where it lets you create an account and sign up for a plan (e.g., one day, one week, etc)? If that's the case, any idea if it's in English too?
The information on venniceconnected.com says that the locations for the service are Piazza San Marco and Parc San Giuliano. Is this information just outdated?

anyone who experienced this let me know. I am interested to know if anyone was able to use skype with wifi. Next time I am in Venice I would try. This would be fantastic to use with smartphone.
I am finding the wi-fi a bit sketchy. It does work, but the bandwidth is iffy and you may find that it cuts out up and down the Grand Canal. Then, you must enter your ID and password each time you access it.
Please keep in mind that it's available in campi and along main thoroughfares, but rarely accessible from inside any building. It may act a bit differently depending on the device you have as well.
