Hello, We are new to this site, and hopeful that it is informative and worthwhile. My husband and I are traveling to So. Italy this summer and are wondering about the best way to get to Sicily from So. Italy......(through the straits of Messina)
Does anyone know how long it takes and if you can take your car with you? Also, Does anyone know if one can rent a car on Italy proper( like Sorreno) and return it in Palermo?

Dear DLR:
Yes, you can rent a car in Naples or Sorrento
or other areas and drop it in Sicily - Usually
there is a small drop charge. My wife and I are
leaving this coming Tues to do this trip only in
reverse, we are starting in Sicily and droping
the car at the Naples airport. [content deleted] Mike Bennett
