I am sending my parents on a trip to Rome and am looking for a place for them to stay in Rome September/October for 6 days. I would appreciate if you would give me some B&B recommendations or cost friendly hotel recommendations. I would like a place that is easily accessible to the historic sites in Rome. Thanks in advance!

don't know what your price point is, but Suites Piazza del Popolo is a very nice B & B/hotel, usually available for under $200.00 a night, including breakfast. service is helpful, location is good.

Hotel Smeraldo, near Campo d Fiori, is very reasonably priced, small rooms but clean and friendly.
Location is within walking distance to most sights.

Be prepared for a search though.
For this September/October you may have problems getting a room anywhere for 6 days.

Twice we have stayed at Pantheon View B&B. My freinds stayed there in April and loved teh location. It is reasonable and in a terrific location right next to the Pantheon on Seminario. It has an elevator and the rooms are simple but clean and nice. Nice breakfast also.

We stayed at Hotel Paba on via Cavour just a couple of blocks from the Forum. The area was fine and the hotel was wonderful and clean, large room with large bathroom, small elevator. The owner, Alberta, was very kind and helpful.

You did not mention apartments, but my husband and I enjoyed this one very much. (We are in our 70s.) It is very quiet and only two short blocks from Corso Vittoria Emmanuele, which is a major bus street. I reviewed it here on Slow Travel, so look there for more info. http://www.slowtrav.com/italy/vr/review.asp?n=3705

We are going to stay at Nicolas Inn based on reviews here...and although I can not tell you about the place the owners have been extremely responsive to all of my questions which is always a good sign to me.

I second Hotel Smeraldo very near the Campo dei Fiori and Nicholas Inn very near Piazza Novona.
However, as Debra said...it may be difficult to find a place of your top choices for 6 days in your time frame. But keep searching and something will come up.

Hmmm ! Are you sure that Nicolas Inn in near Piazza Navona---I was thinking near the Colosseum.
I will add to the above by suggesting Albergo Cesari for location and Hotel San Carlo near the Piazza Spagna.
