Somehow I missed this place. (I could just cry. ) I just read about it in the National Geographic Explorer issue on Tuscany. There are crafts-women in Florence, located at the Antico Setificio Fiorentino walled garden that weave silk & linen cloth on 18th century looms. Where is this garden?? Has anybody been there or bought any of their wares?? I am heading over to their web site at www.setificiofiorentino.it to see what I missed in person.

It is in the Oltrarno near the Porta San Frediano. If you wlak across the Ponte Vespucci going to the Oltrarno take the first right.

Does anyone know if you can have a tour or watch them working?

The article in the magazine didn't say but it did infer that you could take the tour. Look on their website, they have tons of info. When we get back to Florence we will definately go there.
