Hello.

Supposedly, Family House Bed & Breakfast has decided to cancel my reservation for April 23-26. I was able to make a last minute reservation at Express By Holiday Inn Rome-East...Via Giorgio Perlasca 50 Rome, 00155 Italy. Is this hotel close to the Rome attractions? I guess it'll have to do but just wanted to get some thoughts into this location.

Thank you
Enrique

Well, it's close to the A24 highway, if you consider that to be one of rome's greatest attractions Big Grin

It is connected by the #14 bus to the Termini train station, from which you can get into town and see things, but it is very far out.

unless you are very constrained by a budget, if you're in rome to do tourist things you might try to find something else. It seems there is still availability for your dates -- i did a search on venere for those dates.

PS -- my website has some photos, descriptions and opening hours for things to see in Rome.

ciao!

The answer is no. It is almost 5 miles from what they call downtown and although they do offer a shuttle to the nearest metro stop (2 milkes away,) that runs 9 hours a day.
It is hard to believe you can't do better than this. Have you tried Venere.com?
It isn't even cheap. You can do better at B&Bs inside Rome, for example i Tetti di Roma http://www.itettidiroma.it/ . They booked me into a nearby B&B recently when a death in the family prevented their accomodating me and my sister. Both are right on the Re di Roma metro stop area. That is not at the very door of tourist areas other than San Giovanni in Laterano, but a lot closer than this Holiday Inn.

Enrique, for normal tourism purposes all you need is somewhere in town rather than in the suburbs: Rome is full of "attractions", small, and best walked rather than traveled on buses or subways; almost anywhere in town is good.

You can check any address against ViaMichelin's maps; as for example 50, via Giorgio Perlasca; zoom out and you'll see it's in the middle of nowhere.

The simplest thing for you to do would be to go thru the Rome reviews on this or other reliable sites, and check each against ViaMichelin and for availability.

Enrique, you won't be able to find your dream hotel at this stage, but you can no doubt do **much** better than what you have. Try venere as suggested above and also Late Rooms, which specializes in last minute reservations. Do a search for Rome, post here with what you find to get some comments.

Enrique,
Check my posting on the topic "Restaurants Nearby". We seem to have "lucked out" on a hotel in a great area. It's a small hotel, but it wouldn't hurt to check if rooms are available.
