Hello!
I must first start this by saying a big thank-you to Pauline the moderator and all of you for your help. When I first joined and posted in the beginning of April I was at a loss. Your suggestions and board have helped me and my husband to plan our trip.
If you read my original post I was overwhelmed by the thought of going to Rome and then Paris afterwards. It was just too much "city" for us. I was able to take your suggestions, board, trip reports, trip planning and get my husband excited about just spending a relaxing trip in the Tuscan countryside before we rush off to the chaos of Paris. We will save Rome for a later date.
Here's the plan so far:
-June 17-Arrive in Paris and take Easy Jet to Pisa (we have no choice on that-tickets were bought by my husband's company).
-Rent "roller skate" size car at Pisa airport.
-Drive to our apartment at our farm
Romitorio di Serelle -Sleep
-Have fun for a week and relax
-June 24-Go back to Pisa and drop off roller skate car and fly to Paris. We will then be staying in Paris until July 1.
I searched and searched for placed to stay in Tuscany. I finally decided on a nice central location in the Chianti area. This place is near Castellina.
It seems as though we can go to San Gim, Siena, Florence, all over Chianti, and maybe even southern Tuscany. My family came over from Reggio Nell'Emilia several generations ago. I don't know if that will be too far for a visit as well. I still have to get to the research of our family tree.
The only thing that concerned me was that it did not have air conditioning. But I realized 9 out of 10 of the places I looked at did not have A/C. The property is just so nice, has such a great location, and fits us so well.
We do plan to use our kitchen just a little as well (we love to cook!)
Do you have any other suggestions? You guys have been great so far!!!
Thank-you so very much,
Leslie
