Today- FINALLY we received our certificates of good conduct from the FBI!! Our first attempt in October to get the certifcates were denied because the money orders were made out to the Department of Treasury, instead of the US Treasury. Lesson #1 - follow directions! In the next two weeks we'll make a trip to San Francisco to hopefully get our Extended Stay Visas. Larry and I have made a few trips to Italy the past five years, and after each trip, dream about what it would be like to live in Italy for a year. Well - I think we're one step closer to making the dream a reality. Here's hoping all goes well with the Italian Consulate! - Jill

Could you please list the precise steps and addresses you used to contact the FBI, how you got fingerprinted, etc.? I need to do this for citizenship, and have no idea where to start. Thanks.

Sorry to add stress but I wanted to remind you We Love Italy that you now only have 90 days from the date of the FBI record to get the visa. That is the PITA of the whole getting the visa. You get a document but then it takes longer than expected to get the rest and by the time you do the first is too old.

Also would love like Deidre if you could give us a breif summary of the steps so I could include it here and on my site for future reference.
