Jewelry Shops:
Jewelry is not my thing, I spend it all on my horse . However a dear friend who is a retired jeweler is going to be in Rome, Florence and Venice for the first time later this year and asked me to find out about the "best" shops in each city. Sorta a busman's holiday. Anyone have suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I think he might enjoy Penko on Via F. Zannetti in Florence.

I was going to suggest Penko as well. The jewelry shops area in Florence is Ponte Vecchio and the area around Por S. Maria.

Hi Joanne

We stumbled across this wonderful artisan jeweler in Venice. He uses an unusual technique called mokume game and the results are amazing. Lucky for me, when stumbled upon the store on my 30th birthday and I got lucky Smile

We have also purchased an additional ring mail order to NZ with no issues.

The weblink is here and I promise that I have no links to the business other than being a fan of the beautiful work.

Hi, Joanne

Lucky you being tapped to be the tour guide! I can't answer your private message, as I'm not a premium member!

Places to eat. I always go to the Diana Ristorante on the Fondamenta Misericordia, 2519. Nothing flash, just a down to earth place, where you get value for money. (Mention my name, and say hello to Omar, Habib, Isham, Valentina and Gino, if you go.) Also, Gam-Gam in the ghetto is reliable and not too expensive.

For things to do that are different, do you have a copy of Secret Venice, by Jonglez and Zoffoli?

See if you can find the tiny chapel in the attached photo while you're there in Venice.

My email address is in my profile, if you have more questions.

No need to say, have fun!

A bit further afield in Arezzo but also looks interesting.

It would appear that I should add 'italian jewelry' to my list of interests...

Do not miss DeMatteis, via Nazionale 40r, hear the SMN train station in Florence. I have bought from them for over 12 years.
