Here are the guidelines: You select one of your own photos to post that in some way utilizes the topic. Use the topic as a concrete prompt, or find a novel approach. Each person, just one post/photo per thread topic, (or two if you must)please. Photos should be resized to be no wider than 600 pixels. Too-large photos slow down the loading of the thread, and will be deleted. Read about how to post a photo in a thread, here. If you have an idea for a photo hunt topic, contact one of the Mods to offer the suggestion instead of beginning another thread.
Posting photos in the thread gives your permission for SlowTrav to eventually move the photos over to Photohunt albums in the Slow Photos Galleries.
This week's prompt is "Musical." Thanks to BGE for the prompt idea.
You're encouraged to describe your photo--where you shot it, details of what you were doing or what was going on, etc.
Being a professional musician I have plenty of musical photos to choose from. This was shot in Siena, where a group of children were sent by their contrada to practise open air drumming. Please note that the photo was shot in April, so three months in advance of the next Palio.
After about half an hour of drum practice, a friend of mine began hoping a meteorite would fall on the children and stop the noise
This is a picture of the Sale de Apolinee at La Fenice in Venice. We were there in October for a concert of piano music sponsored by the Venice Biennale. BJinNM
Badia church in central Florence; choral book on music stand with lamp. This area is not accessible to the public, you can see the book only by singing in the choir
One of my favorite places in Florence is the Museo dell' Opera del Duomo - with its wonderful sculptures, including choir lofts by Donatello and Della Robia. It was hard to pick one of my extensive collection of photos of the wonderful pieces we saw in this uncrowded treasure!

Last summer's fun evening at the Touro festival on Lago Trasimeno. After a night of feasting on a huge spit roasted bull. The festa goers, danced off some of those calories to the music of "Music Group"

On my last day in Bologna, I heard music from my apartment and when I went out to investigate, I found this marching band. They were part of a procession returning the shrine to a church.

While this is just an ordinary snap shot, it's a great memory for me. This cellist played with such focus and passion. We walked by her often, in Venice, and the music always made me pause, inhale, exhale and smile.
This picture was taken in the Piazza Signoria, Sept. 27, 2003, at the annual offering of wine by the consortium of Rufina wine producers (from the town of Rufina) to the Signoria of Florence. This was the final event of the Bacco Artigiano program, most of which took place in Rufina. In 2003, it began on Sept. 25, Thursday at 5 pm in Ruffina and concluded on Saturday in Florence at the Piazza Signoria.
The procession was led by many men on beautiful, spirited horses in contemporary uniforms, followed by men, women, and children in fine Renaissance costumes, including a band and flag bearers. The offering of wine was first blessed in front of the Duomo. The procession then continued to the Piazza Signoria, where they arrived about 5 pm.
Following the presentation to the Signoria, represented by the Mayor and other dignitaries, the band played and the flag bearers tossed the flags in a carefully synchronized demonstration.
I hoped there might be some samples of the Rufina chianti but there weren't! But tastings were available on Friday in Rufina, from noon to midnight.
While walking along the main street of Benevento Rosemary heard music and started walking toward it while I protested that it must be recorded music. When we arrived at Caffe'dell'Artista via B. Camerrario n 5 Benevento tele 082428805 we found Paolo rehearsing for a concert the next weekend. He kindly allowed us to sit for a 45 minute private concert. Which proves that as usual Rosemary was correct.
On New Year's Eve we saw these boys marching up and down the streets of Amalfi playing peasant instruments. Once they stopped on the steps of the Duomo to rest I took this photo.
Every year the Bava winery in Cocconato holds a concert for brass instruments in their Cocconato vineyards entitled "101 trombones" (although no-one counts the numbers). One year it rained and the concert was held in the cantina entitled "brass and stainless". This shot from an outdoor year.
My most recent musical memory is of being at the Queen concert at the Datch Forum in Milano this past September. What a stirring moment it was when the entire crowd sang 'Love of my Life', a capella, in English...
Street Musicians in Campo de' Fiori, Oct. 2007. I was so taken with this boy violinist, who was very good, that I followed the group around for quite a while watching reactions. Children especially were entranced, and one little blond girl got up and danced. I was also interested by how seriously the other musicians seemed to take him.
Wendy & Rob, for a minute I thought he might be the one in your picture, but he couldn't have grown up that fast... I don't think.
Last April we participated in the walk/run for secondary schools in Venice. It was 5 miles and over 45 bridges. It is called Su e Zo per i Ponti. There is also a musical competition. This is a photo of the winners in San Marco Square performing on their wooden instruments
Yes, Dorothy, that is the same young man. We've been watching/listening to him for years and he just gets better. Our shot was with his entire family. The grandfather was a hoot to watch, spinning and lilting his stand-up bass.

Wendy& Rob, it's amazing how he's shot up - but I guess kids'll do that. Please post pictures of him from time to time and let us know how his career develops if you continue to follow it. He seems to have quite a special quality.
