I don't know if this is against the rules or in the wrong place... (Mods, feel free to take 12 days to discuss before making a decision, and delete if you want to, I'll just e-mail you every 10 minutes or so to remind you, OK?)

In order to promote cultural understanding and broaden the horizons of US teens my eldest son has graciously allowed himself to be persuaded to take a class in Italian when he attends college. As part of that study, he should of course see Italy, the real thing. Can you possibly find it in your hearts to support his selfless endeavor by contributing to his college fund? Sadly, his mother's paltry pittance from the generous folks at Internet Brands will only cover the cost of a yearly pizza.

Personal checks, Amex, Mastercard, PayPal and Cash graciously accepted.
Thank you!

I think you're being a little ambitious there.

This isn't really fair, Amy. You have two kids. Now I see what Evan means when he whines says "They like Dan best".

What are you doing for Evan? Shame on you Uh-uh No!.

Oh, don't worry about Evan, Maureen. He's planning on that building a better Internet idea, and I'm sure he'll be approaching you and others here about the exclusive groundfloor investment possibilities.

And Ms. "For the Love of..."--please remember to use that little triangle Alert button, instead of diverting thread conversations. Thank you.

YOu know, they say youth is wasted on the young, and since I'm no longer young, I agree with that statement 100%. So...I say let Amy's kid fend for himself....maybe he could hitchhike across the United States as a budget alternative?...Anyway, how about sedning your hard-earned money to help a deserving older couple continue their life in Italy? We can provide references if needed, and promise to do our best to enjoy our money just as you would...eaing wonderful pasta and drinking good wine...you know, enjoying la dolce vita. Thanks in advance. (Sorry Amy)

Please forward this email thread to everyone in your addressbook and see what wonderful things happen! Remember...you have to forward this email thread within the next ten minutes or something bad will happen!

I get so annoyed when people do such vague posts. Roll Eyes

Italy is a big country, where does your little one want to visit during his college years? I might want to consider subsidizing the college education of someone wanting to visit, say, Florence, a place that really needs more American college kids. But there are so many places.

Be more specific, please, so we can help you and little Dan.

I agree 100% with Barb (and Art)! I am also a bit annoyed that a mod would post such a request. If any thread deserves locking this one does Mad. But since it appears to be OK to beg, I've been learning Italian, Bon Jorno, and I am going to Italy in November. I would accept donations, and not just money, (https://www.paypal.com/) a warm coat would be nice and some comfortable shoes (I have bunions). Not to mention a belt or two. God forbid I should accidentally buy a fake and end up with a fine I can't afford. That would ruin my vaca...learning experience.

Please help if you can Frown.

JB

JB, perhaps we can arrange a private tour for you during your visit. I think people would be more likely to donate if they knew their money was going to help several deserving people...so they can give it to you and you could give it to us to pay for your private tours! Wow! This is a win-win situation! Let's hope these ST people are as generous with their money as they are with their advice! Wink

Good morning ( I do hope it is still morning) - I've been following the Barb (and who?) entries and now Amy's offer to help out the youth of America - one anyway. I feel a need to get involved in this. Since the Canadian dollar is below the American one now, wouldn't it be less expensive to set up a fund for me - and perhaps I could take Evan to Italy, check up on the older boy and do the Barb and Art tour while I'm there. This should makes us all happy, right?
Cheers, MayK

Mods, I feel this post is utterly inappropriate and should be moved to the more appropriate
I pander therefore I am forum where it belongs. I mean really, what's next? Pimping out spouses to pay for ridiculously expensive trips to Italy?

Hmm... on second thought, I wonder if Doru is an option?

Well, you know Kathy, everyone does speak very highly of Palma's Brad, and she does like expensive trips to Italy, so that might be a funding option ...

Actually, if you increase your donations by a tad then "eldest son" would have enough to pay Casey to come along as his interpreter and translator. Casey could even be a tour guide and chaperon making sure that "eldest son" doesn't fall into the party trap of those crazy American students.
