A gentle reminder that Slowtrav's Concentric Reading Circle's Book Club meets today at 2:00 P.M. MST in Gold Star Chat Room...A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle is our book for the month of June.
If you've read this book, or if you are thinking about reading it, please come in and spend an hour or so talking about this book. See you at 2:00 P.M. MST.
Here's the World Clock, if you need help figuring out what time that is in your corner of the world. I'm in Edmonton's time zone, Mountain Standard Time.
See you at 2:00 P.M MST!

I am so embarrassed. I totally spaced out today and forgot about book club. I hope you all had a good discussion. I am so at myself that I forgot and missed it because I don't get three quarters of what he's saying and the quarter I get I know I'll never be able to put in practice.
Sorry for the delay in replying... Actually, it was a very small, select group that came to book club...just me! I had a great discussion with myself, though! So, no transcript this time.
I'd like to suggest a few books for next month: ~ Audition by Barbara Walters - I have read some really good reviews of this autobiography, so it might be worth a read.
~ The Girl Of His Dreams by Donna Leon - I love her novels, they are always a great read! This might be a lovely break from the darkness of the last few books tat we've read!
~ Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides - a very different read, funny and poignant.
Does anyone else have a great book to add to the list? Please let me know!
I'll be on vacation until after the next scheduled book club chat, July 20th. Would someone like to host for me, or do you want to wait until I get home? Either is fine with me, so you choose! I'll actually be traveling home on the 20th, and in the air for the better part of the day!

Books: I remember reading Middlesex some time ago and enjoyed it. Barbara Walters - know who she is, but no real experience of her - don't let that stop everyone else, though ! The Donna Leon - don't think I've read it but maybe fiction would be a change. I've had a nice period lately of getting through quite a few books, so I'll try and think of something to recommend.
On a slight change of subject: Alexandra Fuller's US set book 'The Legend of Colton H Bryant'has been in the book review columns here for the past couple of weeks - somewhat mixed reviews. Have you read this?

Ok, that works for me, Ginger! I have read and reread it, and now I open it and read specific parts that are meaningful to me.
It would take a huge leap in consciousness to grasp it all at once, and I don't know anyone who could do that! There are a group of us here who are wading our way through the book, bit by bit, and we have varying opinions.
I think it depends on where each person is in their life and what each one has experienced as to how this book, or any other like it, will impact.
I'll be home mid-week of the week of July 20th, so if everyone is willing to wait until I get home for the discussion, that's great. If you want to go ahead on the 20th, with someone else hosting, that's also fine with me! I'll be on my way home from our trip that day, so I'll have no access to a computer, although later in the evening, I may be able to hook up my laptop from our hotel room.
Only a few more sleeps!

For our next one I would recommend The Monster of Florence by Douglas Preston. I am just enthralled my the story. The writings okay but the story is amazing and really scary!
Ginger, Thanks for asking! I'm back from vacation now, so I'm ready for this coming Sunday, if that works for everyone.
That'd be Sunday, August 3rd at 2:00 P.M. Is that good for all?

I'm sorry to miss you all again, but I'll be on a plane heading for Dallas to visit the granddaughters - our third visit this summer. How wonderful is that!
Topping... Book club today at 2:00 P.M. MST! Here's the world clock if you need help with your time zone. Look for Edmonton for MST. See you there!

I can't believe I forgot about book club again. I don't know what's wrong with me. I need an IV ginko drip. Sonnet was visiting and she hasn't been home in a long time and we started watching Atonement and blah, blah, blah.... I am so embarrassed and really sorry Brenda.
