After battling it out at Slow Travel's equivalent of UFC's Octagon (a private discussion titled "Octagon") and in a process a tad more involved then pulling names out of a hat, I am pleased to announce Slow Travel's Favorite Moderator for 2008:
Maureen
Maureen picks our photos of the week, dabbles in every forum, and if she's not at home, she's in Italy! Because she's so stellar, we've also made her cat honorary Slow Travel favorite pet!
Congratulations Maureen!

That shows you what the sympathy vote can do. With all her trials and tribulations caring for her "challenged" auto - Fritz, you guys just wanted to do this to raise her spirits.

Such petty arguments! Maureen, let's elope to www.sloho.it! They have specials for ElderGeezrs so you can tag along and get a discount although you are (still) only 29!
On the other hand, I have a difficult pre-nuptial divorce proceeding with another so called Mod who prosed to marry me, so where is she now? Maureen, we better be carelessful!
Ssshst - I never get any respect around here. After slaving through photos week after week, Charisse never gets it right. Every Monday my eyes need a rest from the hard work. And now Maureen gets all the credit.
And do you know what else - my fellow moderators can't even remember my nationality. They all think I'm Canadian because I'm nice. Humph! It's Seattle - Not Vancouver!
As a Europe-based moderator, can I ask why only US-based moderators can be considered for Slowtrav "Favorite" (sic) Moderator? The contribution of European moderators to the board is of immense importance; we give our continued and unwaivering support to the forums, and are paid just as little as the US moderators.
I feel this is far to important a matter to be buried away in an Announcements thread, and ask that it be moved to somewhere really important, so that everyone can see just how cross I am, and all my European co-moderators (erm...) can show their unwaivering support of my position.

This post violates the ST rule against talking about politics on the boards. Somebody should report it to a moderator.

That fancy British food or maybe it's that warm British beer is affecting Jonathan's memory. I've told him a hundred times - quit calling us Erm! All the important moderator names end with "een." How hard is that to remember?!
(Don't EVEN get me started on the extra vowels those Brits blithely throw into words. )

They keep me pretty busy here, and I've been lazy. I want to try to come here more regularly now.
As far as the Eens, well, I've had my suspicions that they were all the same person, merely batting me around like a cat would a dead bird, or like a game of human hot potato. But now I feel oddly compelled to side with the one who emerged triumphantly from the Octagon.
