We were all taken aback today when Groupee closed down all its users (including Slowtalk) for site maintenance. As you may have seen, you could read many forums, but not post. We seem to be back now, although you may need to log in to post.

We deeply apologise for the inconvenience and lack of notice (and believe me, we were tearing our hair out!) and hope this will be the last of these sudden interruptions to SlowTalk.

It's a shame they can't do maintenance in the middle of the night, when user-ship is down.

But productivity was up for me, too. Yes, I had to re-log in. Thanks for the announcement.

The other day "we" (at work) got an email stating that there's been too much internet usage "plan-wide" and to keep non-work related internet usage to a minimum.

I thought for sure the "IT" folks decided I spent way too much time on Slowtalk.com and locked me out! Roll Eyes Eek Whew! I'm still safe for now. Cool

It would be nice if IB would put up a notice on the Slowtrav.com page when Slowtalk is being tweaked or whatever they do. OR, as Terry suggests, do it when viewer-ship is normally at it's lowest.

We did this today, but it unfortunately didn't go up until the maintenance had started. Since we didn't know the maintenance was scheduled. Mad

I agree that these updates should take place after hours! (But I'm not the engineer who'd be working at midnight. Wink )

What seemed weird to me was that some advertisement that said something like "Get lost" .. or something like that flashed and turned around and around before the screen said that "Groupee was down" ... I thought, How rude!

Midnight to the east coast is 6 pm for us (even though we are not as many), although Europe is just waking up and joining the board during our evening hours.

Yeah, but they did their maintenance at 10am - 1pm PDT - which is just bad form all around. Personally, I don't care when they do it. I just wish they'd get the stupid notifications working. Last time this happened, we told them to notify me before hand. They sent an e-mail out less than 24 hours before the maintenance start but I never received it (we're still trying to find out why). I also slammed them b/c they have a place on their forums that they're supposed to announce these things. Last time, they didn't use it at all. This time, they put the announcement up, 10 minutes before the start of the maintenance. Problem with that? Their forums went down too. But eventually came back quicker and it's how we found out what was going on. I understand all about maintenenance, but it would be nice if we could let our users know ahead of time what's going on.

I opened ST yesterday to see "There are current 0 member(s) and 64 guest(s) on the forums."

I though, "Man, where's the secret GTG?"

Then I tried to log on and got that weird looking gold man telling me to forget it.

By the way, he looked like one of the huge communist statues in Budapest's Statue Park

Deborah, LOL on the secret GTG...Yesterday was really a test on my ST addiction.

Kim, why do I have to log on each time I hit reply. I did check the box that says remember my password. It is such a pain to have that keep popping up.

Eden, it sounds like your cookies are messed up. Try deleting your cookies (instructions on this page) and start over with logging in and making sure that box is checked. Let me know how it goes.
