This was announced in another thread, but I am going to copy the posts over to this new thread.

>> Posts moved. I screwed up the order a bit. Jim posted about FlyerTalk HERE.

It looks like Internet Brands has just bought Flyer Talk as well. They now own my two favorite sites.

It is interesting that this leaked out before being announced by IB or Flyer Talk.

This is pretty thrilling! I checked out their board today and it is really active - now I need to start reading some threads and getting ideas about booking flights!

There was one long time poster who started a thread before I even heard of it. Randy (the owner) did post it as fact in the private forum for moderators. As a moderator, I can say that I expect FT to keep on operating as well,if not better than ever.
Just like ST!

You and me both.

I like the explaination from Randy, that he chose to sell to them because they will keep a very light touch, and let FT (and ST) remain as it is for years to come. No major overhaul or changes.

Well isn't that a neat coin-kee-dink. Smart people know which sites to use. Wink

Funny I just came on here to post this news as well--I received an email from FlyerTalk this morning. Flyertalk is a great community and was really helpful to me when I needed info (and support!) for my horrible situation with Varig last year. That's when I joined up, and I discovered that its got a lot more info than just frequent flyer stuff.

Anyway, its interesting that there is the same speculation/concern over there as to what Internet Brands is bringing into the mix. But the general consensus seems to be that its a good thing.

So Jim, you are a moderator on FlyerTalk? Why no link to the site in your signature here? If you have time, could you start a thread in Everything About Travel and tell us a bit more about FlyerTalk and what goes on there? Thanks!!

I'm not surprised to see some cross-over in the users of the two sites! Both target relatively sophisticated travelers who research their travel online and who engage in online travel communities! Nice to see! Smile
