We have had a few problems lately with the board going down for a few minutes now and then. Groupee think they have found the problem and are restarting things now.

Please let us know if you experience the board being down (internal server error).

Pauline,

I've been having a terrible time with the board lately. It's either been really slow or I just can't get onto the site. I haven't had the problem with any other site, only ST. Even with my new broadband it's been persnickety. Groupee ghosts you say? Big Grin

I have been bitching to Groupee about this for a week. I think today they finally did something to fix it. Let me know if it continues being slow or going down.

The board has been up and down for me - usually it is only down for a short time. I have also found that at times it is very slow.

Today I have not received email notification of PM's. I have checked and the notification is on. Confused

Another member reported receiving duplicate notifications.

Sheena, if you don't receive them in a few more hours, let me know and I will report it.

Nothing at all yesterday, or so far today in spite of several PM's received.

This is maddening!

I just got the "internal server error" notice when I tried, 20 TIMES to get into the Slow Talk site.

OK, I'm bitching to Groupee now. Complain

The board is backup - that was a systemwide problem just now. Not just our board.

Tuesday, 6 March, around 5PM EST I could not get on ST. The rest of the internet was operating fine.

Not moaning here ... just reporting that I am still not getting email notification of PM's.

I did turn the notification OFF, then ON again - but nothing!

It turns out that the member who was receiving multiple email notifications had caused the problem himself with settings in Outlook. I wanted to get that one cleared up before reporting the not receiving notification emails one for Sheena. I will report it now.

I've been trying to reply to the Heathrow Connection topic and got a 404. I managed to copy the text into Wordpad. With multiple logout/logins and using a new window, I get an error (yellow triangle in the lower left) when I click reply. Here it's letting me start a reply; let's see if it goes through.

And what happened to the delete post option? It's gone! I tried to delete a post yesterday right after I wrote it and the delete post link was nowhere to be seen. Same thing today. Did Groupee eat it? Big Grin

Kathy, that's been a bug for almost a year (maybe a longer) that we've been waiting for them to fix. You can edit a post but not delete it.

What I suggest doing is deleting the content and replace it with "delete this post" or something and hit the alert button for a mod to do it.

Kim,

I forgot about that. I'm used to being able to delete Private messages and when I tried to delete a post for the first time in about a year, I thought I'd have the same option. Hopefully I won't need to again. Wink

So this morning, when I went to edit a PM, I thought I saw the message "delete now?" pop up, which surprised me, but then I haven't seen it again this morning. Maybe I'm seeing things?

Oh, and thanks for showing me how to use emotes in Chat yesterday. One baby tech step at a time.

Is anyone else noticing that whenver you first click onto the site or into a different board, that there is rather a long pause before the screen refreshes? (OK, it's all relative in this instant-gratification world)

I have a new laptop & at first thought it was because there are no cookies or cached pages from ST yet on my shiny new hard drive, but I've been on many times since and that pause takes long enough that you wonder if the site is online.

Janie,

Yes, I've been having problems with slow page loads and the like. Last night I couldn't get back in to edit a Private message just after posting it and kept getting an "internal error" message. When I tried to get back into the site I kept seeing "waiting for slow talk" and couldn't get back in for about 10 minutes, this after trying a dozen times. Once in, it was slow and wonky.

This seems to be happening late at night for me. I'm not having trouble with any other sites.

Anyone else still experiencing problems?

I always have to click at least twice on my "favorite" listing for slowtrav before I actually get in. I thought it was Internet Explorer 7. Maybe not.

Yea, it's sort of a bummer. I also have been experiencing the same kind of difficulties on the ST boards, especially on "Italy." It was fine for about a week, but now, it's back to lagging like it was before. Sometimes after I have clicked on a link it takes soooooo long to load that it goes right to a "internet explorer cannot find the page." It's just so frustrating, it feels like I'm back on dial-up. Uh-uh No!

Oh, man. Ouch! Frown When I used to have dial-up, I used to do my housework while I waited for those pages to load.

the board is much better today, and hopefully Telecom will show up as scheduled next week to install our ADSL. We'll only connect at 2 Mb, but it's gotta be better than 64k/128k!
