I am making a few layout changes to the forums. We are now referring to them as "forums" instead of "message board". I am changing the header a bit to include a banner Google Ad and remove the list of moderators names (instead a link to our Moderators page).

I made a teensy mistake doing these changes, so if the boards look weird, hit refresh and all should be okay.

Not for me; I use Firefox with Adblock.

I don't like the Ad's at the top. Maybe it's just because I'm not used to them, but I think it makes Slow Travel look like all the other internet sites. It's loosing the format that made it special.

Also what does Ford have to do with travel??

I don't mind the ads too much. It is part of a necessary evil in the evolution of a commercial site. Our membership dues alone could never pay for a site as complex as this.

However, it does seem like the wait for a forum to pop up is longer on my computer.

I have the fastest dsl I can get, and normally a site pops up instantaneously.

But, for slowtalk now, I have to sit and stare at that banner ad for a good 5 count before the content of the forum pops in.

I'm guessing there is some sort of setting for this, no?

The same thing happens to me when I want to access the message board.. a 5-12 second wait before the page pops up.

Same here. I have a 10 - 15 second wait until the board pops up. No ads here though.

I don't mind the ads, its a fact of Internet life (I just ignore them) but why is every single one for New Zealand? No matter which board, its the same New Zealand ad!

Compared with some sites, the ads are almost non-existent - not causing me any problems!

this is very bizarre...maybe because of where we are? I have ONLY seen New Zealand (and there's New Zealand at the top of the page right now!) Weird!

I've seen both. Google ads are very mysterious, but I think it has to do with the advertisers' preferences. Maybe one specified weekends, or Tuesdays, or who knows what. In some cases, if you just refresh your browser, the ad will change.
