Tonight at about 9PM PST, we’re going to be restarting our travel database server in order to allocate more memory to the database. This should improve performance on that database, but a couple of sites will be affected. Slow Travel will be one of those sites. However, only certain sections will be affected. It will be to the trip report and classified sections. These areas will probably only be down about 5 minutes.
If you cannot access those areas after, please try and clear your cache first. If you continue to have problems, please let me know.
Altho I didn't have any problems yesterday, I did notice that no topics were marked as new...i.e., no forums or threads had the yellow lightbulb "on". Today, everything is lit up like a Christmas tree, indicating I have a LOT of catching up to do!
I'm sure it's all related to yesterday's changes, but just wanted to let you know what I was seeing. Also, for those of us who aren't so computer savvy, when you suggest "clearing your cache", could you provide a quick how-to? Thanks
Barb, it's not related. The forums on trip reports are on two totally different machines. It sounds like your cookies (the files on your machines that tell the forum software the last time you logged on), got messed up.
Now, without changing anything to do with cookies ( like I could do that without help! ) and also without logging out and logging back in, the forums I've visited are not yellow, and the ones with new stuff that I haven't read yet are yellow, just like they're supposed to be! I'll never understand computers!
