A reminder: Earlier this year we changed the rules for signatures.

Read more: Rules for Commercial Mentions on the Message Board

We did this to get rid of long commercial sounding or confusing signatures.

Signatures may contain one or more of the following:

- Your name
- A favorite quote (not linked to anything)
- A link to your website
- A link to your blog
- A link to your classified
- A link to your Slow Travel members page
- Links to pages you have published on Slow Travel

Other notes:

- Only one link to your website in your signature. If you have a separate page with a special apartment listing or a bookstore, you cannot link to it separately.

- The link to your website must be either the domain name of the site or the name of the site - no extra taglines.

- If you run more than one website, you can only link to one of them.

- Do not put your email address or phone number in your signature. You can make your email address visible in your profile.

- If you run a blog, you can link to it as well as to your website. Make it clear in the link that this is a blog.

- If you have a Slow Travel classified, you can have an extra line in your signature - link using the caption of your classified or with "We support SlowTrav" or "Slow Travel Classified Listing".

This only applies to linking to websites other than SlowTrav - commercial or non-commercial. If you have trip reports or travel notes on Slow Travel, or a members page, you can link to them and are not restricted to one link.

>> I have been editing some signatures today that do not conform to our guidelines.

>> Member names cannot contain your domain name.

I updated our Terms of Service to have a section for signatures:

http://slowtalk.com/groupee/tos

And I made a new page in the help section about signatures:

http://slowtalk.com/help/signatures.htm

Let's make 2007 the year of the "slim signatures"!! Smile

Yes, you can link to any slowtrav pages.

You can also link to your classifieds using the caption as a link or the company name or "We support Slow Travel".

Your signature can be fatter!

Ok thanks!

I will try to make my signature fatter! Smile

Since I have 3 classified listings on ST, I think that I will keep the link to my website and add only the map's one.
I don't want to be so fat Wink

Ciao
Corinna

Pauline, since you're an expert at slimming things down can you work your wonders on me? I'd like a 30 inch waist again!

I'd like to make some amendments to my signature, but don't seem to be doing it right.

Can someone please take me step-by-step through the operation? (Imagine you are trying to teach Ipod use to a little old lady, and you won't be far from the truth!)

Topping as a reminder. I have been updating a lot of signatures lately where people are linking to more than one business website or including long taglines.

> Link to one website only with a simple link - URL or name of website.

> If you have a ST Classified, you can also link to it with the caption.

Read more here: Slimming Signatures

Thanks!!
