In a couple of weeks I have a business trip to Port Angeles, and expect to be there for at least two nights. I don't eat meat, but eat just about anything else Wink. Although I appreciate and enjoy fine dining, I also like cafes and diners. Any recommendations for me?

Thanks!
Colleen

It has been ages since I've been to Pt Angeles. If the weather is good, you will have a great views of the Olympics. If you have a car and a bit of time, do a drive up to Hurricane Ridge. Here's the webcam to get an idea of the view from the parking area. It is about an hour drive up from Pt Angeles (25 miles).

Eating is going to be a little tough. It is probably not known for great food. I looked over the list from chamber of commerce. Bella Italia has been there a couple of years and I recognize the name. Menu looks good. Michael's Divine Dining looked good. C'est Si Bon has been there forever but we've never been there. It is a bit more formal.

We do go to Sequim which is close by for the Lavendar Festival. We usually end up eating at The 3 crabs. Food isn't great (greasy diner) but it is more a funky institution and not worth the drive.

I did a quick check on Chowhound and saw similar recommendations. The others were Alder Wood Bistro - Sequim, Toga's in Pt Angeles and a couple of mentions of Sabai Thai in Pt Angeles.

Thanks for the links, Marta!
I'll take the restaurant names with me as a starting point, and ask the client for recs, too.

I may have some time the day I leave to check out Hurricane Ridge - beautiful views. Is it named that for a particular reason? Wink

Wikipedia says this about the name: Hurricane Ridge is named for its intense gales and winds. The weather in the Olympic Mountains is unpredictable, and visitors should be prepared for snow at any time of year.

If you find anything decent, you should post here or on Chowhound. The question of OP restaurants gets asked a lot (on Chowhound at least), and very few people have any recommendations.

In case you didn't see it, this story about the Olympic Peninsula in the travel section of the Chronicle has a couple of recommendations (at the very end).

Thanks, Chris - I haven't opened my Sunday paper yet!

I checked out the article's link for Joy's Wine Bistro in Port Angeles ... if you want a giggle, take a look at the wine list there.
Shannon said I should take my own. Big Grin

We had lunch at Joy's on Wednesday, and her webmaster/mistress should be fired - the wine list was a wine book! Our lunch was delicious, and I enjoyed a dry rosé called "Rose the Riveter" from the local Olympic Cellars Winery.

Reviews to come!
